Some of the organizations that are responding to the ongoing crisis are the International Mayan League, Frente Indigena de Organizaciones Binacionales. and Promotores de la Liberacion Migrante. Over the past several years these organizations have worked with local communities in the US to develop a corps of trained interpreters in a variety of languages. If you are looking for an interpreter, are a native speaker of an indigenous language and would like to get involved in grass-roots language access work, or want to support the vital work of indigenous community organizations throughout the United States, please view their resources.
The following businesses and associations provide interpretation services. They are listed only as a resource, and their listing here should not be implied in any way as an endorsement of skill level.

We have formed a great team of interpreters to be able to serve you by interpreting in person or over the phone. We are available 24 hours a day upon your request. What makes us unique besides translating from English to Spanish; is our professionalism interpreting MAYAN LANGUAGES and INDIGENOUS MEXICAN LANGUAGES. With 22 Mayan dialects spoken in Guatemala, we know it’s often hard to determine in many cases which language your client speaks, we have composed a system to help in this process.”

I am looking for an interpreter to translate q’anjobal to english. This office is court appointed to represent a defendant who only speaks q’anjobal. Because it is court-appointed, we have to first get authorization so the state will pay the fee. We understand that this will have to be done telephonically.
