Interpretation Resources

Some of the organizations that are responding to the ongoing crisis are the International Mayan League,  Frente Indigena de Organizaciones Binacionales. and Promotores de la Liberacion Migrante. Over the past several years these organizations have worked with local communities in the US to develop a corps of trained interpreters in a variety of languages. If you are looking for an interpreter, are a native speaker of an indigenous language and would like to get involved in grass-roots language access work, or want to support the vital work of indigenous community organizations throughout the United States, please view their resources.

Language Line

This commercial service allows anyone with a credit card to connect with trained professional interpreters fluent in more than 200 languages. Interpreters are available 24/7/365 and the cost is $3.95 a minute. Translation is available for Kanjobal, K’iche, and Mam.
